My name is James Crouch. I am a 23 year old South African who has been living and teaching in Thailand and Vietnam for the year of 2016.

In my six months in Thailand I taught a grade two class English, Science, Health, Mathematics and Physical Education. The class consisted of 31 students between the ages of seven and nine. The size of the class taught me to control and earn respect from a medium to large size class. In addition to my work at the school I taught at a language where I taught small classes conversational English, as well as English in a corporate setting. Finally in the month of April I have been working in summer school which has added to my experience and has created what I believe is a well-rounded collection of teaching experience.

In my Next six months I worked at ILA Vietnam, which is a language center based in Hanoi. In my time there I taught a variety of students, ranging from kindergarten to adult classes. Similar to your company, ILA classes are small and intense which allows the teacher to connect with the students. My time at ILA allowed me to learn how to make my classes fun and engaging, focusing on speaking and communication rather than writing and worksheets. Additionally, through the company I taught at a public school which allowed me to develop my teaching skills in larger classes of twenty five plus students. My classes at the public school ranged from grade one through to grade five, which taught me valuable lessons in adapting the given syllabuses and making them engaging, interesting and interactive.

I would describe my personality as dedicated, enthusiastic, patient and energetic. Additionally, my experience so far has revealed to me that I thoroughly enjoy teaching and I have become very passionate about it, hence the fact that I search for more opportunities outside school time and environment. I also consider myself a highly social and an approachable person who makes an effort in connecting with the students.
