    English Volunteers for Change (EVOLC) in Costa Rica is the very best organization for volunteer teaching English in the country! Our program is unique in that we provide free English classes where there is an immediate need to learn the language. Our volunteer teachers offer classes to children and/or adults in rural/impoverished communities, tourism communities, public schools, as well as organizations and businesses in the public and private sector. By learning and improving the English language skills, students are able to acquire better paying jobs, more career opportunities, a better education, and overall enrich their lives and enhance their futures. EVOLC emerged from a government sponsored initiative, Costa Rica Multilingüe, which seeks to improve the country’s economic competiveness by increasing the number of English speakers in Costa Rica, and ultimately create a multilingual country before 2020. Job description: Volunteer teachers will participate in a 3-5 days orientation at our office in Costa Rica’s capital city, San José, and upon finishing the induction week our volunteers will be taken to their respective teaching communities. Volunteer teachers will live with wonderful host families in rural and urban communities throughout the country during their volunteer work. They will be responsible for teaching English classes approximately 20 hours/week and preparing approximately 20 hours/week. In general, classes are held Mon-Thurs providing volunteers with long weekends to travel and explore Costa Rica! Program options range from 5 weeks to 1 year, teaching children and/or adults. *Some of our locations include Liberia, Puntarenas, Guápiles, Pococí, Copey de Dota, Santa Cruz, La Fortuna, Jacó, Quepos, Heredia, Parrita, and more! Remaining Start Dates for 2012 are: April 23 June 18 September 3 Qualifications: *University degree *TEFL (or the equivalent) certified or teaching experience *Independence *Willingness to adapt *Native English speaker *Organization and responsibility *Experience living in another country *Commitment to service and volunteerism *Ability to relate and communicate well with others Programs and Program Fees: Corporate Responsibility, Teacher of Business English-$500 refundable deposit Local Development, Teacher in Rural/Tourism Communities- $415-515/month Public School Assistance, Teacher in Public School- $415-515/month Teaching Assistant with National Learning Institute- $1,250 for 3 months Short-term Community Service, Teaching/Tutoring/Conversation Classes- varies What is included: - 3 meals a day - Lodging - Transportation - Teaching Materials - A 3- 5 day intensive orientation program in San José - 24-hour, ongoing support from the EVOLC Program Coordinator and ALIARSE staff - Site visits from the EVOLC Program Coordinator - Mid-term meeting and final meeting What you will gain: - Competitive multicultural, international, and professional experience - Personal sense of achievement and satisfaction - The opportunity to change and make a positive impact in the lives of others!
