Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certification Course
The TESOL Certificate Course will provide the most essential knowledge and skills necessary to teach the English language to speakers of other languages overseas. Different from existing the traditional Teaching English as a Foreign Language Programs which primarily train instructors to teach English overseas, this TESOL Certificate Course will educate teachers to address the linguistic, theoretical, and practical aspects of teaching English to speakers of other languages with a focus on the learning styles, goals, and needs of the individual learner.
The Midwest Education Group (MEG) offers a certificate program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Four weeks of training and a practicum provide the required knowledge in language, theory, culture, and classroom teaching of English abroad.
IV. Admission Requirements
MEG offers admission to TESOL applicants who appear to have the passion for academic achievements and who, with the benefit of a TESOL Certificate program, are most likely to contribute substantially to ESL professional fields through teaching practice.
MEG admission team determines the minimum admission requirements including: (1) a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution; (2) a satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 2.8 (B) on a 4.0 scale; and (3) enough undergraduate training in English courses to do the teaching English work.
Admission decisions are based on admission team review, using a combination of factors, including academic degrees and records, the statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, test scores, and relevant work experience.
MEG requires proof of English Proficiency for non-native speakers of English including the TOEFL score of 76.
State any legal requirements imposed upon your admission policies.
Students must be 18 years old or older to register.
