Position Information Riverbank Public School opened in Term 1, 2015 and is located in the suburb of The Ponds in the north-west of Sydney. The school is rapidly growing with enrolments spanning from 290 to 850 in 2017. Set within spacious, landscaped grounds, the school shares a site with The Ponds High School and is part of an innovative and energetic community approach to teaching and learning. The school has an emphasis on outstanding teaching and learning programs supported by ongoing professional learning of staff. Our school is a member of the Norwest Community of Schools. Focus is placed on the development of literacy and numeracy skills through Language, Learning and Literacy (L3), and Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) programs and the use of technology to support and engage students in their learning process. A range of extracurricular activities are offered to extend and enrich student learning. Our current student population is 850, 75% of whom have a language background other than English. The school has three Multi Categorical K-6 support classes and encourages a holistic and inclusive approach supported by strong student wellbeing programs. Our Restorative Practice Framework provides a common language and practice to build respectful relationships, and foster effective communication with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach K-6.

Approval to teach primary English as a second language or currently completing or currently enrolled in an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language K-6 as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.

Demonstrated deep knowledge of the EAL/D Learning Progressions, ESL scales and their application to student assessment and targeted support.

Proactive, collaborative and creative approach to addressing the needs of EAL/D students.

Proven interpersonal skills with staff, students, parents and the community with a focus on building strong relationships.

Experience in supporting whole school gifted and talented and music programs.

Special Notes It is anticipated that entry on duty will be Day 1 Term 1 2018.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language K-6 as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
