Term of contract: Flexible (beginning April 2017-August 2017)

Major Duties: Co-teach performance lab-style classes, focusing on vocal technique (traditional and contemporary), acting technique and stagecraft, and music direction. Lead production meetings and serve as stage director for main stage musical productions. Provide assistance in advisory capacity on matters such as curriculum development, repertory choices and casting. Faculty member is expected to perform for occasional concerts and publicity events. Japanese language ability is not required, but certainly helpful. Translator is usually available. Recruitment and service duties as assigned.

Institutional profile: Senzoku Gakuen College of Music is a 4 year Bachelor's degree-granting, nationally accredited institution located in Mizonokuchi, Kawasaki, Japan. The Musical Course is the first established university-level musical theater training course in the country, with an enrollment of over 200 students.

Summary of qualifications: Candidate should be well-versed in navigating diverse cultural settings, able to adapt and creatively respond to unfamiliar situations. Masters degree in appropriate field is preferred, though a Bachelors degree combined with considerable professional performance/directing experience will be considered. Minimum of three year teaching experience. Excellent communication, collaboration and organization skills are essential.

Salary: 583,334 yen per month, before taxes. Benefits include health insurance with co-pay and housing/utilities allowance.
