Intensive English Studies, Assistant Professor

Teach 15 hours per week per semester. Instructors are also expected to hold at least three office hours per week, attend meetings, participate in interviews, hold demonstration classes, develop and share instructional materials, participate in peer observation and evaluation, and other duties as assigned.
TERM OF CONTRACT:
5 years, Non-renewable. If you are over 60 when you are hired, this does not apply and the term of contract will be less than 5 years.
INITIAL HIRING SALARY:
Annual salary of about 4,000,000 yen; rank as Assistant Professor
Benefits provided include furnished housing; reimbursement for airfare from the country of residence to Japan for the teacher (not for accompanying family members) upon arrival at Kansai Gaidai; return flight for the teacher on completion of 5 full years; and payment of half of the health insurance (mandated by the university) premiums.
If student evaluations or TOEFL score improvement are below expectation, instructor may be reassigned to the regular EFL program with the incumbent responsibilities. Successful candidates should expect to arrive in Osaka the last week of March 2016 for orientation for April 2017 commencement or last week of August 2017 for September 2017 commencement.

Master’s degree in TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or Education with a TESL emphasis.
Minimum of 3 years teaching English to speakers of other languages, at least 2 of which must be in a country other than the candidate’s nationality. Additional experience preferred.
High level of English proficiency speakers preferred. Speakers with TOEFL iBT scores of 120 (30 for each section: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening) will be considered.
