Macquarie is the university of pioneering minds.

Globally recognised as one of Australia's leading research universities, Macquarie is a place where extraordinary new possibilities come to light. We've helped people to hear, introduced wireless internet technology to the world and broken through traditional boundaries by appointing Australia's first female vice-chancellor.

At Macquarie you'll join a vibrant community of diverse perspectives, all working towards a brighter future for our communities and our planet. Surrounded by a beautiful parkland campus, our students and staff are free to explore and discover, supported by facilities including a high-tech library, private teaching hospital, gym and pools, childcare facilities, a campus train station and the newly expanded Macquarie Centre shopping complex next door.

Macquarie University International College

This is an exciting time to join the Macquarie University International College, the University's new pathway college, which has just welcomed its first students. The College provides Foundation and Diploma programs to prepare international and domestic students for success in Macquarie's undergraduate degree programs.

The Foundation Program has two offerings, Standard and Intensive, and successful students progress to the first year of a Bachelor degree. The four Diploma programs - in Accounting, Commerce & Business Administration; Information Technology; Media & Communication; and Engineering - are equivalent to first-year undergraduate study and successful diploma students can move straight into the second year of Bachelor degree.

The Role

We are currently seeking two Senior Teachers, one for Foundation and one for Diploma. Applications are invited from appropriately qualified and experienced teachers to provide leadership in Foundation or Diploma subject areas or programs. The successful candidate for the Diploma Senior Teacher role will primarily be responsible for the Diploma of Accounting, Commerce and Business Administration but will be required to work across other Diplomas offered by the College so candidates with additional experience in Engineering, Science and Arts fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

In addition to classroom delivery, Senior Teachers are expected to provide consultation and supervision to students, review and develop the existing curriculum, and provide leadership and training to other teaching staff on daily operations, teaching and learning matters including assessments and collation of results. They also contribute to broader College activities.

Senior Teachers must be experienced in teaching students from non-English speaking backgrounds, have a high level of attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please apply online with a CV and a cover letter referencing your fit to the selection criteria:

Sound understanding of relevant unit subject content as demonstrated by academic achievement and/or professional competency
Ability to provide leadership and training to other teachers, work independently and collaboratively with others
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and other key stakeholders
Experience in teaching and/or tutoring students from non-English speaking backgrounds, including identifying and advising students at risk.
Experience in the use of Moodle and a range of learning modalities to support the effective translation of teaching to student learning
Experience in review and development of curriculum, preparation of study materials and assessments and managing results
Salary Package: from $97,236 - $100,913 p.a. plus superannuation

Appointment Type: Fulltime, 2 year fixed term contract
