Position Information

Bankstown Senior College has an enrolment of 435 students (from 16-70 years of age), 94% of whom are from a non-English speaking background. 130 of these students attend the IEC and come from a variety of backgrounds. Over 90% are refugees. The College is a unique non-uniform senior high school operating over a four day week. The College delivers Board of Studies courses for Years 10-12, as well as a discrete English course for adults. The College also offers a post-compulsory Intensive English Centre (IEC) on site. The IEC provides English and cultural orientation for newly arrived refugees and migrants, between the ages of 16 and 26 years. The College has an inclusive support system, focusing on meeting the individual learning and emotional needs of students. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach English as a second language (secondary) within an Intensive English Centre. Demonstrated ability to deliver effective, engaging and differentiated teaching programs to maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. Demonstrated experience or skills in integrating technology into effective classroom practice to enhance student engagement and learning. Demonstrated capacity to support the welfare and learning needs of newly arrived, adult, refugee students. Highly developed and effective interpersonal skills with capacity to collaborate within a flexible, dedicated faculty team and in college-wide initiatives.
