The Role

Red Cross Migration Support Programs provide support to refugees, asylum seekers, immigration detainees and other people who are vulnerable as a result of migration. Red Cross supports refugees through a range of services and programs that protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants. We also work to reconnect family members whose loss of contact is caused by international or internal conflict, war and disaster.

The Volunteer EAL Coordinator role (Volunteer position) will support EAL Volunteer Teachers with the delivery of EAL classes to MSP clients and newly arrived migrants. The EAL Volunteer Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of English classes and its syllabus acting as the central contact for teachers and staff.

The Volunteer EAL Coordinator will need to be familiar with development of syllabus, registering clients/participants, assessment processes, lesson plan development and resource sharing .

About you

MSP volunteers demonstrate good interpersonal skills, work independently and have the ability to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds. MSP Support Volunteers will have sensitivity to the needs of the client group, including the impact of trauma, the uncertainty of visa status, and the experiences of conflict, war and displacement.
