BlacktownGirls High School is a partially selective high school providing quality education to girls in Western Sydney. The school has an enrolment of approximately 710 students, including 3% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 67% students from a non-English speaking background. The school has strengths in girls’ education strategies and student welfare, with priorities in quality teaching in the 21st Century and gifted and talented programs.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach English (Years 7-12). Approval to teach secondary English as a second language or currently completing an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language (secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education and Communities. Ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging teaching programs which cater to the needs of students from a non-English speaking background. Ability to effectively differentiate lessons to extend and challenge gifted and talented students using 21st Century learning pedagogies. Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team and a willingness to contribute to whole school programs.
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language (secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education and Communities, which must be completed within 12 months.
