Avonvale Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Language Other than English (LOTE) Teacher - Noongar, to join their team.

The successful applicant will provide a consistent, integrated and inclusive Aboriginal Languages program across years 1 to 7. They will be willing and able to work in a diverse educational setting, meeting the educational needs of students within a dynamic environment.

Avonvale PS opened in 1954 with the first students coming from the Holden Migrant Centre. It is a Level 4 school with a student population of approximately 200 students.

Avonvale Primary School is situated within the town site of Northam, on the north-west side of the Avon River. The housing in this area is mainly government housing and the school has low socio-economic index. As a consequence, the school was included in the school attracts additional funding through the National Partnership Program.

This is a highly specialised role. Skill in Aboriginal Languages (specifically Noongar) is essential. Employment of applicants without teaching qualifications will be considered.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for 6 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement; and
