Italy PrimerItaly remains one of the countries that aspiring teachers picture in their minds when they contemplate teaching in Europe. It should come as no surprise then that Italy is a fairly competitive teaching market, particularly for non-EU passport holders. Still, there are jobs available for other teachers, especially those who speak "American English" and are willing to search for jobs on the ground, door-to-door.Schools usually request and often require TESOL training. Salaries vary from cosmopolitan centres to more rural locations so do your homework. A good salary in a smaller city may not be enough to cover the rent in Milan. Private tutoring opportunities exist and pay relatively well. Italy is a country committed to English education so that job market there should continue to grow.
