My philosophy is derived from the knowledge that I have obtained from the experience and education that I have been given. It extends out from what I believe is the motherboard of all teaching: principles and application. I feel that through our desired approaches to teaching, our power to instruct learners is our greatest source of communication with the students. All pedagogical success emanates from proven theories internalized and put into practice. Interaction is the most valuable component in the field of language learning. Speech interplay starts in the classroom, then it occurs beyond the four walls of the institution one is studying in. In the EFL context, the challenge may be harder to obtain a second language on an “island of English”. However, it depends how it is taught and in what way. There is a need to facilitate learners’ learning to make interaction a stronger component. The confidence to communicate is also imperative. This comes from the very teacher who emulates it. S/he must engage and collaborate frequently with the students with optimism and encouragement. The comprehensiveness of the interaction should be taken to a point where the learners are exploring and discovering the language that they are learning. Most importantly, the enthusiasm the teacher presents must show a love for teaching that can overcome any obstacles. If the teacher shows exuberance and positivity during instruction, the more the students will respond in the same manner. Even though confidence may not be present in a student, there are always alternative ways to facilitate any learner’s style of learning a language. As teachers, we must be adaptable and resilient in any environment we teach in so as to transfer our knowledge and skills to the students we teach. We must present to them a reason as to why they are learning the language by connecting it with their desired careers. If we are able to foster the interaction, they will be able to explore and discover that which gives them a purpose to learn.
Communicative language interplay is best interpreted through the confidence the teacher mirrors. This is the teaching philosophy I employ in pedagogy. I believe well-instructed students armed with practical advice for out-of-class communication experiences will develop the
confidence to expand their abilities into the social arena of native speakers. This increase in faith in one’s capabilities will lead to fluency and expanded opportunities for world citizenships. A thoroughly prepared teacher who has gone through the same experiences as their students is the key to individual empowerment.
